The importance of safety increases as incidents occur in which trust and protection are tested. One incident that shows this idea is that of a recent raping in Mirjarlguda, India. G. Katam Raji, a software engineer was arrested for allegedly raping a 24 year old housewife who is a resident in the same apartment building as his own. He has been arrested and charged for his crime, but police are still searching for his wife who is allegedly an accomplice of his. According to the article, another case like this occurred recently in India, indicating its frequency perhaps because of unfair treatment of women and poor safety.

Throughout India, many cases involving rape and harassment continue to plague societies in India. Women have been told to be aware of their surroundings while using public transportation systems such as metros and rickshaws. Unfortunately, cases of rape occur among acquaintances as well. The twenty-four year old housewife was unfortunately a victim of rape from someone who lived on the same apartment. However, India currently attempts to prevent the incidents of rape throughout society. Many metro stations throughout India support women- only trains in order to protect women from rape gangs. However, authorities such as the police in India fail to inform society of how rape and sexual harassment disrespects the dignities of individuals. Furthermore, rape violates the idea of equal life and dignity by increasing putting the lives of society in danger. Sexual abuse prevents individuals from living out his or her live in peace. The danger of rape hinders individuals from thriving in society, which results in increased violence and distrust among the society members of India.
